Job Title: Barman

Job Location: Eldoret, Kenya

Reports To: Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and control the operations of the bar;
• Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons;
• Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment and keep the premises neat and tidy;
• Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol;
• Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons;
• Serve snacks or food items to customers seated at the bar;
• Order or requisition liquors and supplies and assist the Bar & Restaurant Manager with various stock takes when required;
• Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays;
• Take responsibility for security of stock in the bar area and restrict access of other staff and customers;
• Other duties as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of four years’ experience in a restaurant or catering environment including tray and bar service. In addition:
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Strong work ethic;
  • Immaculately presented.

Education Requirements

• Relevant post-High School qualification
